Good to know

📍 Meet at the Takamaka Léman base in Féternes, near Thonon-les-Bains: a shuttle of about 10 minutes then takes you to the put-in on the Dranse.
⏱️ Allow around 2 hours in total, including 1 hour on the water for the classic descent.
👧 The classic descent is open from age 8 (or 1.25 m tall), as long as you can swim and are in good physical shape. For bigger thrills, the special descent, from age 14, offers 1 hour 15 on the water and more committed rapids.
🦺 We lend you a neoprene wetsuit and boots, a life jacket and a helmet: just bring swimwear and a towel.
🚿 Changing rooms, toilets, a big car park, a food truck and a picnic area are waiting for you at the base.
📅 The season runs from early May to late September.
⚠️ Not recommended for pregnant women, people with a medical condition or older people.
📸 Photos and videos of your descent are available as an extra, on site. 🚗 Activity shuttles are included, but getting to the base is up to you.

How the activity works

1

🏁 Gear up.

At the base, your guide welcomes you and explains how the trip will go. Then it’s off to the changing rooms for your wetsuit, boots, life jacket and helmet.
2

🚌 Shuttle up.

A shuttle of about 10 minutes drops you at the put-in. The scenery rolls by, and so do the first tips.
3

🎓 Get briefed

Getting into the raft, paddling technique, safety rules and what to do if you fall in: it’s all covered before you set off.
4

🌊 Hit the water

The rafts slip into the river and you’re off down the Dranse, 1 hour of rapids and calmer stretches all the way back to the base, where a food truck and picnic area await.

Why choose Takamaka ?

🏔️ Takamaka brings 30 years of experience in white water and mountain sports, and the Takamaka Léman team puts that know-how to work on the Dranse.
🚣 In rafting, everything is a team effort: a state-certified guide on board steers, teaches you to paddle in rhythm and tells you what to do if someone falls in, right from the briefing.
🌊 The Dranse mixes technical sections and calmer stretches through its gorges, a varied course that suits a first descent just as well as a craving for thrills.
😄 In the boat as at the base, our spirit stays simple: kindness, availability and good humour.
